Head Coach Brad Childress says that punter Chris Kluwe was instructed to punt the ball away from Reggie Bush after his 71 yard punt return, but continued to punt to the former USC star two more times.
Childress said after the game: “Both of those kicks are supposed to be out of bounds, and when you say to somebody kick the ball out of bounds, that’s what you expect to happen. That’s what I expect to happen with a professional football kicker.”
Asked if Kluwe cannot handle directional punting, Childress shot back, “You know what? If he can’t do that, I’ll find someone that can kick the ball out of bounds.”
