This week our Vikings are back home to face division rivals, the Detroit Lions.
With the Lions being 0-4, part of me has to feel good about this game, but the Vikings haven’t exactly been dominant this year, so I wouldn’t call it a sure thing.
The key for the Vikings will be stopping the pass. Starting QB John Kitna will probably not being playing, so that could help. Kitna has a knack for throwing about 4,928,103 yards per game, and he’d probably have a field day with the Vikings secondary. Hopefully our defense can put some pressure on whoever happens to play QB. I’d love to see Jared Allen get a couple sacks. He needs to get his total higher than 2.
Adrian Peterson should look to have a big game here. He’s about due, anyway.
I would love to see the Vikings come out throwing. In the early preseason, the coaches made it look like we were going to be more daring on offense, and our offense looked good doing it. Then when the real season started, they clammed up, and it allows teams to do exactly what the Saints did last week: Stack The Box! Peterson is the #3 rusher in the league right now, but those of us who have watched him so far this year know that he’s capable of WAY more than he’s showing. The Vikings need to take advantage of that better.
I am going to predict the Vikings win, but since it’s a division game, I’m going to say it will be somewhat close. I’ll say 28-21 Vikings.
