So the Vikings resigned linebacker Dontarrious Thomas.

To which I reply:  “THANK GOODNESS!!!”

Thomas was on the team last year as an extremely solid backup who was able to play all three linebacker positions.  He left the team as a free agent because San Fransisco offered him more money, but then SF brought in some other players and decided not to keep him.

Our depth at linebacker has taken a huge hit so far this year.  Heath Farwell was hurt during week 1 of the preseason, then middle linebacker/superman E.J. Henderson was hurt during the week 4 game in Tennessee.  Last week against the Saints, backup linebacker Erin Henderson got a concussion. This week David Herron, who is playing MLB, had to leave the field twice because he was shaken up.  It’ll be nice to have Thomas back, not only for the depth he provides, though, but because it’s someone who can come in and play right away.  He knows the defense, he knows the linebacker coach, and he knows the guys he’ll be playing with.  That means a lot with a mid-season acquisition.
