On Sunday the Vikings beat the Packers 28-27 (Read the NFL.com recap here)

Two wins in a row, and the Vikings are tied for the top of the division!

The Vikings managed to win Sunday despite the fact that QB Gus Frerotte did not have a good game.  While he did throw 2 TD passes, he also threw 3 interceptions and only threw for 151 yards.  One of his interceptions were returned for a touchdown.

On the other hand, the Vikings defense was tremendous.  They gave up 13 points to the Packers, and they had 4 sacks.  Jared Allen was still a beast despite playing with a separated shoulder.  The entire defensive line put tremendous pressure on Rogers throughout the whole game.  In 30 pass attempts, Rogers was sacked 4 times, and knocked down an additional 10 times.

Speaking of the pass rush, Brian Robison needs to play more.  No offense to Ray Edwards, but when Robison comes in, the pass rush gets even better.  He’s like Jared Allen Lite.

The special teams continued to struggle, though.  Another punt was returned for a touchdown by the Packers, bringing the total against the Vikings to 4 this year.  That’s way too many, and we still have 7 games left (including one against Devon Hester and the Bears).

But the real game changer this week was Adrian Peterson.  All Day had a big game, taking 30 carries for 192 yards and 1 touchdown.  During the second half you could see it in his eyes that he was determined to take the entire team on his shoulders and single-handedly win the game if he needed to… and that’s pretty much what he did.  He also had 3 catches for 33 yards.

The Vikings are tied for the division lead, but currently the tie-breaker would go to the Bears.  What we need is for the Vikings to win next week against the Bucs, and for the Packers to take down Grossman and the Bears.  I think it can happen!
